Retirement Application Information

The first thing you need to do is determine your retirement date. Then, contact the Retirement Department at 625.6330 to make an appointment to apply for retirement. If you are married, your spouse must accompany you to the appointment.

Documents needed for the appointment:

  • Your birth certificate, unexpired passport (or passport card), or Washington State Enhanced Driver's license
  • If you are married, your spouse’s birth certificate, unexpired passport (or passport card), or Washington State Enhanced Driver's license and your marriage license


Additionally you will need to designate a beneficiary(s). Please be sure to have the beneficiary’s name, date of birth, address and social security number.

Interested in applying for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)?

  • You must be employed in the public sector at the time of application. If you retire beforehand, you will lose eligibility.
  • Apply for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) at studentaid.gov/pslf.
